New Exhibits Open

Gems of the Collection

The Cass County Historical Society has hundreds of thousands of artifacts in its collection.  Museum curators have combed through this extensive collection and selected some of the best artifacts to place on exhibit.  The Gems of the Collection exhibit features military artifacts from the 1870s through World War II, North Dakota made pottery including a large collection of Rosemeade pottery, rare and valuable firearms dating as far back as the American Revolution, a 1903 Model A Ford, new acquisitions at the museum and much more.  The exhibit opens May 25, 2010 and runs through September 2010.

Cass County Remembers: The Dirty Thirties

North Dakotans have always had to find new and industrious ways to make do with what they were given.  The Great Depression of the 1930s tested people to the limit.  This new exhibit at the Cass County Historical Society’s Bonanzaville Museum explores the ways people made do, when they didn’t have much to work with.  Come experience a typical Depression era kitchen and WPA pottery, learn about the types of toys and games children played with and examine quilts made from unique materials.  The exhibit features a children’s discovery area in addition to video interviews with local residents who experienced the hardships and the joys of the 1930s.  Cass County Remembers: The Dirty Thirties opens May 25, 2010 and will run through September 2010.

Oral History Studio

Bonanzaville’s Oral History Studio is up and running.  We are looking for stories of experiences in Cass County and North Dakota.  We will be adding these stories to our archive collection to be stored and used for research, exhibits and more.  We are looking for people of any age to tell their story.  To get involved, simply call Bonanzaville to set up an appointment.

Historical Society gets Two New Historic Buildings

In December, Bonanzaville got two new Historic Buildings.  Both are from Hank and Joyce Trangsrud from rural Horace, ND.  Thanks to them we have a new grain elevator and homestead house.
