In-school Field Trips
Unable to take your class to Bonanzaville?  Bring Bonanzaville to your class.  An experienced educator will come to your classroom and talk about Pioneer life in the Red River Valley and bring artifacts, stories and games for the class to experience.  Call for more details.

Trunk Talks
Bring Bonanzaville to your classroom.  You can rent our traveling trunks on 11 different topics to help your class learn about Cass County history.  Each trunk includes lesson plans, curriculum ideas, photographs and artifacts.  Each trunk costs $15 for two weeks. 

  1. Toys & Games: examine the life a child at the turn of the century. Artifacts include marbles, a cloth doll, wooden top, and a writing slate.
  2. Tools & Gadgets: discover the kinds of tools pioneers used and see how innovative they were. Some items include a Wagon Wheel wrench, butter paddle, bellows, and a curling iron.
  3. General Store: see and touch original items found in general store of the late 1800's. Some items include a washboard, clothing patterns, cabbage slicer and spices.
  4. Pioneer Clothing: learn all about pioneer fashion and its care complete with swimsuits, knickers, sock dryer & washboards.
  5. Quilting: explore quilting as you watch the WDAY award winning video, "The Quilt" and touch antique quilts and materials.
  6. Inventions: examine inventions from our region such as the roll-film camera designed by David Houston of Hunter, ND. Join the fun by making your very own miniature grain auger!
  7. The Great Depression: learn of the hardships that helped to shape an entire generation, Items include a butter churn, coal bucket, children's toys and a mending ball.
  8. Medicine Men and Chiefs: Discover how integral the lives of these leaders were to their people. Artifacts include: paint pot, beaded amulet, tobacco pouch and 7 natural herb medicines.
  9. Native American Clothing: See many pieces of authentic clothing including: bone & bead belt, elk teeth & brass bead necklace, Fox skin, several pairs of moccasins including one for a newborn baby.
  10. Native American Warrior: explore the world of the warrior. Artifacts include: arrow, arrowheads, bullet mold, tomahawk, and flute.
